Voting on the Iraq supplemental spending bill scheduled for today has been postponed until Friday. Debate will be held all day today.

Are you for it, or against it?

If the vote passes it will mandate withdrawal by Fall 2008. Is that soon enough? Have you written or called your Representative to tell them what you think?

    Enough debate,
    do it already and
    stop this war mongering/profiteering! ; (

2008 is definitely not soon enough. However, I have not called my Representative, Terry Everette, because I am certain he could care less about what I think.

Yes, CM, but stop the war now, or in 18 months from now when it’s politically convenient right before the Presidential elections?

I called. Representative Roskam’s office took the message. I’m sure they shredded it as soon as I hung up – assuming, of course, that it wasn’t an “air message” – you know, where they pretend to write something in the air with their finger?

Not soon enough. NOT soon enough.

    What up with Moveon.org?

If they delay long enough, will they suspend funding by default? That works for me.

Everyone is more concerned about the 08 election over an 08 withdrawl.

That’s the crux right there, Mike. As pure an idealist as anyone person might be, even they can acknowledge that cutting funds outright is politically dangerous territory. Equally as dangerous is any other action that could be seen as an endorsement/extension of the war from the Democratic Party.I wish I had CSPAN on infront of me right now…

It was time four years ago. Enough already, just do it!

Actually withdrawal would be much sooner under the “benchmarks” outlined in the bill. So, this time Bush actually needs to accomplish something to keep going. I think the bill does let Bush know that we will no longer tolerate his “dicking” around over there. Both my Rep and Senator are Rethugs first class thanks to gerrymandering, so I don’t have any representation.
    I did call tho.

Do it. Doing anything is better than doing nothing.

That said, though, it probably won’t get out of the Senate, and if it does it’ll get a big fat veto. Or, it will get a signature and a F…ing signing statement saying he can do what he damn well pleases.

Don’t blame me. I didn’t vote for these bastards.

I don’t believe that 2008 is soon enough either, but logistically speaking…what is the fastest we could get out? 6 months, 8 months? 30 days? A year? I really have no idea.

It took my unit less than 3 weeks to pack up completely and leave Jordan.
