Through great diligence, and or technical difficulties, Mccs1977 is banned in China.
In other news I’m working on a project that, if successful, will generate untold thousands of hits daily…Bwahahahaa! I’m working on the code for a mashup between two popular Wordpress themes, Foliage Mod 1.02 and Hemingway. Finally getting the hang of this PHP thing.

fallenmonk added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atIf that test is real??? Then my efforts have paid off too. fallenmonk.com and fallenmonk.blogspot.com are both blocked as well. Now to just figure out if that is good or bad.
BTW, I had no trouble hitting my blog from China last fall. Gotta wonder the validity of the test but maybe things have changed.
Diva Jood added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atFoliage is beautiful. Would like a version for Journeys. But I’m not on Wordpress. Oh, the frustration.
Diva Jood added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atAnd, I tested Journeys. I am also banned in China. This is a bad thing for a travel professional. Kidding.
aaron added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atI had the same blockage…and my blogs tiny.
However, on the sitemeter, someone from Beijing visited it on the 29th.
Either that was an editor looking for fresh things to whiteout(they didn’t have a referring URL or anything) or the test could be just trying to get a point across: A lot of “democracy” is blocked in China…Kudos to Yahoo and Google for helping with that.
Whichever, it is a cool link. Thanks.
navyswan added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atI think that site is crap. It says my site is banned in China also. However, according to my site meter, I have had a regular readership from China. When I did my cabbage walk blog post about Han Bing, I had a couple of visits from China a day for a few weeks.
ziem added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atI’m blocked too. That’s hysterical!
I wish I had wordpress. I was a poster on another blog and was spoiled using wordpress. *sighs*
bluegrrrrl added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atI am proud to report that bluegrrrrl is banned as well! Now that I have accomplished something meaningful today, I think I’ll take myself out for a nice lunch and a margarita.
navyswan added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atThis site is also “blocked” in China according to that link:
http://www.china.org.cn/english/features/beijing/30794.htm
(the site is crap)
Steve Bates added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atI have serious doubts about that site. My blog is blocked… er, not blocked… um, blocked… ah, I mean…
So many things can go wrong in routing a request from here to China that it is not legitimate to report a failure as a blockage. IIRC, the site even admits that somewhere in the fine print.
Trust Sitemeter reports of hits from China over this Great Firewall site. If you don’t use Sitemeter (I don’t), assume that if you ever once get an unblocked response, your site is probably not blocked.
Comandante Agi added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atI am blocked, so is everyone else who left a comment. That can’t be legit, can it??
navyswan added these pithy words on Mar 30 07 atComandante,
I am of the impression that it is not a legit site at all. I got “blocked” responses for a couple of pages from http://www.china.org.cn, which is the “authorized government portal site to China” run by “the State Council Information Office and the China International Publishing Group in Beijing”.
If the Chinese government is blocking their own sites to keep their people ignorant of current events, news, political position papers put out by the government, and assorted tourist information, then I propose they are doing a poor job of maintaining the appropriate indoctrination level that a national firewall would seem to be trying to accomplish. Just my thoughts.
Frederick added these pithy words on Mar 31 07 atNavy swan’s giving me quite the flogging. I half expect a post on the subject in the future…
