    Fred,

Do you need marijuana for medical purposes?

Personally, I think the ‘war on pot’ is a huge waste of resorces. I think pot should be decriminalized. I am not an advocate of it’s use, though, especially for kids. I also think the “medical marijuana” angle is bullsh*t. If you want it legalized, then say so. Don’t be a sissy bullsh*tter and make up reasons just to play on peoples compassion. I personally know people who claim they need pot for “medical” reasons, even though they really don’t. They are just trying to work an angle, and I think these people make up the majority of the “medical marijuana” movement.

We are coming, more and more, into agreement. Reminds me of one of my favorite clip on Medical Marijuana:

See, now that’s what the hell I’m talking about exactly! That guy is pretty good (funny).

And here is where some people might confuse my conservative views for liberal. I believe in helping people who are strung out/addicted to drugs. I know strong drugs can kick even the best persons ass. Just like alcohol, hard drugs can destroy people in all walks of life. Rich or poor. Uneducated, or over educated. I believe help for these people can come from the private sector, and it does to a large extent. However, to bridge the gap in resorces to help people recover from drug addiction, I myself would agree to pay a tax of reasonable proportion of my earnings to help. I think it would be fair to take it to a vote, so as not to ‘ram a new tax down anyones throat’. If the majority dissapproves, then no tax. I understand the viewpoint of “people who get addicted to drugs did it to themselves, and it’s up to them to get themselves out”. However, I have just a little more compassion for them then that.

I was reminded today watching Colbert (and no I don’t get my news from comedy shows) that 1 in every 130 Americans is in prison. It gets to a point that incarcerating such a large portion of our own citizens is insane.

If a young adult gets caught with some weed, they will be refused any college financial aid. When they try to get a job, their arrest history might come up and cause them to get passed over. So, we don’t just criminalize the act, we keep punishing the offender and make their life hell. Even if they never do it again.

If we cared, we would decriminalize drugs and focus on rehab. We would make it easier for people to better themselves through education and job training. All we are creating right now is a whole segment of society that can never truly assimilate back into normal society to become productive citizens. That hurts us all.

And, sick people should be able to smoke a joint.

I always find it funny that drugs are practically forced down our throats by pharmaceutical companies, yet a person can’t pick something from the ground and smoke it. Remember: That new inhaler for allergies is great! (side effects include: nose bleeds, headaches, viral infections and very rarely heart attack and seizures) Just ask your dealer…umm, doctor if it is right for you.
