Rudy Giuliani’s decision to back out of the presidential race and endorse Sen. John McCain is apparently worth something - McCain is now offering to help the former mayor pay off his hefty campaign debts.

McCain manager Rick Davis asked the presumptive GOP nominee’s top fund-raisers to dig a little deeper for Giuliani, who endorsed McCain on the same day he dropped out of the race last January.

“While this is an unusual request, it is extremely important for the McCain campaign and the party,” Davis wrote in a message to the fat cats.

“We need to help Mayor Giuliani retire his debt as soon as possible so we can move forward with everyone spending 100% of their time helping to get John McCain in the White House. The time Rudy Giuliani has to spend raising money to pay down his debt is time he could be spending raising money and reaching out to voters for us.”

Giuliani ended his presidential bid with $3.1 million in primary campaign debts. He also had $4 million in the bank, but by law that money could only be spent on general election costs and has since been returned to donors.

-I don’t know why everyone is so worried about Alberto Gonzales “The Mayor” landing on his feet, all he has to do is go down to Rupert Murdock, or who ever is in charge that day, and stand in line to get on the wingnut welfare rolls like the rest of ‘em, see. Maybe he can give one of them speeches for money that what was gettin’ in the way of participating on the 911 Commission and all. Johnny boy’s got problems of his own, see.

If Johnny can break a law he has written, he can do anything!
