i remember standing in front of the guard in chicago in `68.they were guarding the dnc,those guys didn`t have clips in their guns either- -that was before kent state.stood there for hours- – talking in a low voice to the guy in front of me- -eventually after i made it clear why we were there,those guys folded,walked to the rear,were replaced,then start on the next one.looking foreward to denver- – maybe we`ll get it right this time- -`sides nixens dead

I read that post at Atrios’ place and said to myself at the time that I wasn’t sure it was true. I seem to remember seeing ammo on the guys at the Atlanta airport. Glad you cleared that up…nothing better than a report from the “front line” on the GWOT.

I agree that Eschaton has gotten a little sloppy lately and I only stop by there out of habit.

It isn’t a blog I’ve read. However, I suspect that the writer in question made the erroneous asspumption that, because of the shootings at Kent State back during the 1970s, the National Guard isn’t “real” enough to carry live ammunition. Or something equally insane.

i agree… the new writers suck. duncan can be pretty lazy, and often seems to coast on his “best liberal blogger evah” credentials a little too easily… but he’s still a good read over all.
