New York Borrows to Pay Jobless Claims:

“I think we went insolvent about two hours into 2009,” said M. Patricia Smith, the state’s labor commissioner. “We’re seeing 50 percent more claimants each week than a year ago.”

Funny, I filed for what will be my last payment yesterday.

I, fortunately, am not to that point yet but the end of next month I will get to make the trek to the unemployment office and put my name on the roles as well. With my luck they will have run out of money here in Georgia by that time.
Maybe by that time someone in DC will have figured out how to stimulate those of us who really need it.

California doesn’t even have a budget yet for the fiscal year beginning last Sept. We’re broke and The Governator has said that he may refuse to pay jobless claims. If my current startup goes under, I’m up the creek…

Time to ramp up those features on my other venture!

Michigan’s high tax rate has been keeping the unemployment office solvent for now, but with lines at offices stretching through parking lots, it won’t be long before Granholm will be begging with everyone else for a little handout.
